Bettingadvice 26th March

This weekend sees the return of the Euro 2012 betting fixtures and where better to
start than in Cardiff for the eagerly awaited Wales vs England encounter (eagerly
awaited if you are Welsh or English that is). It is amazing to say this but I can make
a case now for Wales getting something from this game. England although full of
star names are simply not a great international side and haven’t been for years.
So you can never rely on them winning any game to be honest.

BETTING TIP: England to win in Wales
I think that the nosey press often get to the root of problems and although they do
often get hold of the wrong end of the stick, they do in fact uncover an awful lot of
truths as well. All is not well in the England camp and it wasn’t at the World Cup
and it isn’t now and I for one will be happy when Capello moves on next summer.
Gareth Bale could prove to be a thorn in England’s side and with the passionate
crowd then I am going to predict an awkward game for England tomorrow.
I am going for a narrow England win but I do not say that with any great conviction.

BETTING TIP: Norway to draw with Denmark
There are a couple of fixtures in the Euro qualifiers that look very even to me.
One such fixture is the Norway vs Denmark tie. Had this game been played
in Copenhagen then I would have no hesitation but to go for a Danish win.
However Norway in Oslo are a difficult team to beat and many of the Norwegian
players have top class experience of playing in tough European leagues.

I find it difficult to separate these two sides and this is why I am going with the
draw in this one and that is my betting tip here.

BETTING TIP: Bulgaria to draw with Switzerland
Switzerland are normally a very solid side and very few teams crush them and
especially in their own back yard although England recorded a very good 3-1 win
there a few months ago. Bulgaria are not the side they were and they have slid an
awful long way since their famous 1994 semi-final heroics where they were just
one game away from the World Cup final. This is another game though that I find
difficult to call and I rather fancy another draw here.

BETTING TIP: Germany to beat Kazakhstan

Germany showed in the World Cup that they have a team to be feared and I think
that they will be a serious contender at next year’s finals. They have to qualify first
of course and that shouldn’t be a problem for this German side. Kazakhstan
will be stubborn opponents but if Germany do not score at least three times at
home then I will be very much surprised. So I am finishing off with a banker here and
that rounds this week off nicely.

March 19th-20th 2011

BETTING TIP: Chelsea to beat Manchester City

It seems that every week throws up some fascinating games in the Premier League
but that is mainly based on the stage of the season that we are in. However Chelsea
vs Manchester City is a game that would fire the betting imagination of most people
these days. Chelsea are definitely on the up and I expect them to finish in the top four.
For me the final place will be between Manchester City and Tottenham. City had a
bad result in the Europa League last week losing 2-0 to Dynamo Kiev and that sort
of knocked on to their FA Cup game against Reading which they struggled to win 1-0.

It would not be beyond imagination to see Jose Mourinho at either of these clubs
next season to be honest. But City are not playing well but then again neither
is Fernando Torres at Chelsea. There was talk this week of Torres being home sick
and this could just turn into a £50 million white elephant for Chelsea. However they
are over their blip in my opinion and recovering and I expect them to edge City
this weekend.

BETTING TIP: West Brom to draw with Arsenal

Can the morale at Arsenal get any lower? I am sure that Arsene Wenger will make all
the right noises but in my mind he has created this situation. He has sacrificed
winning for the club making money and playing very attractive football. In many
instances then Arsenal are envied all over the world by many clubs and coaches
and their stadium is second to none. But the entire squad has no one in it who
has succeeded at a high level in club football……just talented footballers who
have shown a long and painful history of cracking and folding under pressure.

This is why I think that Arsenal will not win the title. It is true that Arsenal had an
easier run in but not anymore now that United have got rid of their two tough games
at Liverpool and Chelsea. This weekend sees Arsenal travel to face
Roy Hodgson’s West Brom at The Hawthorns. The Baggies beat Arsenal 3-2 at
The Emirates earlier in the season and I fancy them to take something yet again.

I think getting Hodgson in charge may just keep them up and I am going for a
draw in this game.

BETTING TIP: United to beat Bolton

It is at this stage of the season that Manchester United turn it on. Some people say
that they do not feel the pressure….of course they do but they are less affected by it
than others. They face a jubilant Bolton at Old Trafford after they successfully reached
the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley. I really think that United will win this game and
win it comfortably although United do have a tough game against Marseilles in
the Champions League. So I am going for the obvious home win here and I am not
the least bit ashamed of that.

March 12th -March 13th
BETTING TIP: United to beat Arsenal

Here are my football betting tips for the weekend. The FA Cup returns again and
where better to start than at Old Trafford where defeat for Arsenal could see
them eliminated from three competitions in only 13 days. Arsenal blew their chance
to get their trophy hoodoo off their back in the Carling Cup final and they know it.
Then they tried to play Barcelona at their own game and got that horribly wrong and
a 4-3 score hardly tells the story because Barcelona deserved it. So now four
trophies have become two for Arsene Wenger’s side and that will become one after
this tie in my opinion.

They simply cannot handle the pressure in big games and their overall lack of
trophy winning experience handicaps them terribly. But Wenger is adamant with
his philosophy but this is why Arsenal will not win anything this season.
Their push in the league is an illusion as the pressure will intensify now until the
end of the season and certainly once we get into April. Guess who has the big
names that have done it all before? Yes its United and not Arsenal who have as
much fortitude as a sandcastle has against a big wave. So for me it is a case of
when United will beat Arsenal, will they do it at Old Trafford or in a possible replay?

Arsenal did nothing against Barcelona becoming the first team in the process to
go through a whole game without recording an attempt on goal. That is staggering
for any side let alone Arsenal but to me it reveals that the Carling Cup loss runs
deep in their psyche now. The 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland being further proof.
So there is nothing for Arsenal this weekend for me.

BETTING TIP: Stoke to beat West Ham

There are a few clubs left in the FA Cup who are due a trophy and one club is Stoke.
They entertain an improving West Ham United at The Britannia and Tony Pulis will
have his side well prepared as always. Stoke are a far different proposition at home
and I expect them to beat West Ham this weekend although Stoke haven’t been
playing great recently. However it is amazing how many clubs have great cup runs
in both domestic cups in the same season. West Ham reached the last four of
the Carling Cup and Birmingham won it and The Blues are here in the last eight
of the FA Cup.

West Ham need Scott Parker more than ever but a huge factor for them is that
they are battling survival in the league while Stoke have some breathing space.

This factor could have a huge impact on Avram Grant’s team selection this
weekend. Coupling that with the fact that any away trip to Stoke is tough then I am
going for a home win here.

March 5th -March 6th

Where better to start this week’s betting tips than at Anfield for one of the biggest
rivalries in European and world football. There is extra spice this year with the
Liverpool vs Manchester United tie as Liverpool would dearly love to throw a spanner
into the works as they currently tie United on a record 18 league titles. After United lost
at Chelsea in midweek then Arsenal come into the frame even more so and I will get
to them shortly. But United will be without Ferdinand and Vidic once again and we
all know what happens when that defensive partnership is missing.

BETTING TIP: Liverpool to draw with Manchester United
Liverpool have no Torres this time to torment United but Suarez is slowly starting to
find his feet. However I am going for a draw in this game, don’t know why but I just
fancy it. I also think that there will be extra spice as well with Kenny Dalglish
being manager as he has had little asides at Alex Ferguson in the past.
So the ingredients are there for a great game with lots of spice but I still am putting
my money on honours being even.

BETTING TIP: Sunderland to draw at Arsenal
By the time you are reading this then we will already know the result of
Arsenal’s midweek FA Cup replay against Leyton Orient (5-0 red.). I expect nothing
less than an Arsenal win but the real test of how they are going to respond to
their crushing Carling Cup defeat will come in this game against Sunderland.
Very few teams crush the Black Cats these days and things could get hairy for
Arsenal this weekend until they score.

I have been saying for ages that there is a soft under belly to Arsenal and what
further proof do people need than their capitulation against Newcastle after leading
4-0. This for me is why Arsenal will not win the title and probably why they will not
hold out against Barcelona in the Nou Camp for the second leg of their
Champions League tie.

The problem with bringing kids through is that you can do it on the cheap but when
you have too many young players then you are dealing with players who are
not proven winners. Usually talent can be nurtured within environments where
the team is already successful. But players are coming through the ranks at
Arsenal and coming into a team that has not won anything since 2005.
I predict Sunderland taking a draw here but only bet if you can get the right price.

BETTING TIP: Birmingham to draw with West Brom
Finally I want to look at yet another big relegation battle and these are coming thick
and fast at the moment. It seems that Wigan, West Ham and Wolves have all taken
their place at the bottom of the league during the past two weeks.

No one has been mentioning Birmingham City as relegation candidates for a while
but they are in this scrap right up to their neck. West Brom are not playing well but
got a good point at Stoke this week. I am going to complete my tips for this
week by going for yet another draw which will suit neither side but Birmingham
will probably be the happier of the two with their games in hand.

February 25th Premier League betting tips

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to beat Birmingham City
There are no really big juicy ties this weekend and Arsenal against Birmingham City
is the highlight in the Carling Cup final. Arsenal have proved that they have a
resilience about them of late that could see them go very close in the title race.
With a far easier run in than United then I think that the 4pt gap will close over the
next month or so. Winning the Carling Cup will end Arsenal’s almost six year wait
for a trophy but Birmingham have showed what a great cup side they have been
this season and are also through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as well.

I think that Arsenal and their slick passing game will be too much form Birmingham
on the big Wembley surface and I am betting on a 2-1 Arsenal victory.

BETTING TIP: West Ham to draw with Liverpool
Meanwhile in the league then West Ham United are coming to the end of what for
them has been a disappointing month in terms of results. They entertain Liverpool
who are starting to play well under new boss Kenny Dalglish. West Ham have a
really tough March coming up and if they don’t get three points on Saturday then
I expect them to be in the bottom three going into April.

However though Liverpool have also been putting in some sub par performances
even under Dalglish including the home draw with Wigan and the 0-0 draw at
Sparta Prague. So this is a fascinating tie and West Ham will not be helped by the
news this week that Newcastle may be looking for Carlton Cole at the end of the
season. I think that this game has a draw stamped all over it and that is my
betting tip here.

BETTING TIP: City to beat Fulham
Manchester City are still chasing two cups but I really do think that the league is
beyond them. However they have still by no means secured a top four finish.
They only lead Tottenham by 2pts but Spurs have a game in hand and despite
leading Chelsea by 5pts, the Blues also have two games in hand on them.
They entertain Fulham at Eastlands this weekend and they will be looking for
three points after losing the Manchester derby last week.

It will be interesting because this will see Mark Hughes return to Eastlands
after being sacked fourteen months ago and replaced by Roberto Mancini.
Fulham have had some decent results of late and are up to 12th in the league.
You never seem certain though with Manchester City and their Achilles heel is
that they can win a game out of nowhere but also lose one out of nowhere as well.

You still get the feeling that things are not well in the City camp and Mario Balotelli’s
body language in their 5-0 cup win over Notts County was all wrong. That sort of
thing can spread through the team and I would not be surprised to see him being
moved on this summer. So which Manchester City will turn up this weekend?

February 19th F.A Cup betting tips

This week sees the FA Cup return again with the fourth round and the fifth
round blending with each other due to replays not being played due to fixture
congestion. One such fourth round game grabs the betting imagination and this
is where I am going to start.

BETTING TIP: Chelsea to beat Everton
Chelsea vs Everton at Stamford Bridge should be a fascinating game. Chelsea
boss Carlo Ancelotti is under pressure being 5th in the league and facing the
gruesome possibility of not finishing in the top four.

Everton are also on the rack and are clearly in a relegation battle at this point in time.
I really don’t know why I fancy Chelsea so much but I do. I still figure that Ancelotti
needs a big trophy this season to save his job and that means the Premier League
or the Champions League. However an FA Cup exit would not do his chances any
good whatsoever. This is why I am tipping Chelsea to edge this contest and move
into the last 16.

BETTING TIP: West Ham to draw with Burnley
I am not even going to bother making a prediction on the Manchester United vs
Crawley game but I like the look of games where they could be a possible upset.
One game that grabs me with this in mind is the West Ham vs Burnley game.
I think that Avram Grant’s job is hanging by a thread and it would only take a bad
result against Burnley to see him out of the door. It is not too late for clubs to fire
their managers as there is still time to escape the trapdoor of Premier
League relegation.

I am not going for a Burnley win and I did tip Nottingham Forest to score an upset
at Upton Park but they were beaten 3-2. So my tip for this game is a draw and this
is what I am going for here and despite their gallant fight back last week against
West Brom, the fact remains that West Ham are not a good side at the moment.
Scott Parker may well have performed one of the best half time speeches of any
club captain but the fact remains that he had to say it in order to drag a performance
out of his players.

BETTING TIP: Birmingham City to draw with Sheffield Wednesday
Another Premier League club who may have a potential banana skin of a match
is Birmingham City who take on Sheffield Wednesday. Birmingham have been
recording some decent results of late and have already booked a
Carling Cup final place. I am coupling a draw in this game with the previous one as
I think that there is a very good chance that one of these games will end up in a draw
and so once again I am going for the underdog to take the game to a replay.

February 12th Premier League betting tips

betting tip:  United  to beat  City
There is only one game that is getting the publics imagination this weekend in
the Premier League and that is the Manchester derby at Old Trafford between United
and City. This game takes on even more significance because City are getting
nearer and nearer to United in terms of finally landing the title. A win for City would
really blow the title race wide open once again and with United losing at Wolves
last weekend then the door has been opened so to speak for United’s rivals.

However City do have something lacking and they do not look like Champions to
me although they could get something at Old Trafford. I think though that United will
want to bounce back quickly after the shock at Wolves. I am betting on them to edge
this one which could basically end City’s chances once and for all. I never expected
United to go the season unbeaten and they do have a far tougher run in than
Arsenal who could run them close.

BETTING TIP:     Liverpool  to beat  Wigan
The change at Anfield over the past three weeks has been nothing short of staggering.
Kenny Dalglish has done a fantastic job at pulling the players together in a way that
Roy Hodgson couldn’t do. I don’t think that this is a reflection on Roy Hodgson but I
never thought that the players warmed to him to be honest. Liverpool this
weekend entertain Wigan who had a great result at home to Blackburn last week.

But how often can you concede three goals and win? Wigan are clearly going to be at
the bottom end all season now and they may stay up but only because there are five
or six teams at this moment in time who all look as bad as each other. Liverpool
are clearly on a surge now after beating Chelsea and they can see that prized
Champions League place getting ever nearer. I do not expect Wigan to stop them
and will be putting my money where my mouth is on this one.

BETTING TIP:     West Brom  to draw with  West Ham
There are going to be some massive relegation battles between now and the end of
the season and February is going to be a massive month for West Ham simply
because they have some clearly winnable games and they have an absolutely
nightmare March to come. Their loss at home to Birmingham was a huge blow
but another shock came this week when West Brom announced that they had
parted company with boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Whether you perceive this to be a knee jerk reaction is one thing but you cannot
blame clubs for taking these actions when the rewards for staying in the Premier
League are so high. When you get relegation scraps like these where both teams
need the win then they tend to end up in draws with both teams feeling the tension
and so my tip is for the draw.

February 5th Premier League betting tips     Archive

This week has seen an absolutely amazing week in terms of transfer activity and
a record for January. How much of an impact they will have on this weekends games
is debatable. Andy Carroll is injured and will not be playing for a while and
Fernando Torres may not play against Liverpool. So Chelsea vs Liverpool is going
to have all of the pundits and the betting public’s attention this weekend.
Will Torres play? Will Saurez play and what impact will he have?

BETTING TIP: Chelsea to beat Liverpool
Chelsea are clearly improving after their mid season blip and Liverpool look revitalised
under Dalglish. However Dalglish will need more in his arsenal than motivational
skills if his is to make Liverpool a top four club. The compressed nature of the
Premier League meant that a couple of wins has taken them up to 7th. However they
were very fortunate to beat Fulham at Anfield last week so I am not convinced by
their current status. So I am going for a Chelsea victory this weekend.

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to win at Newcastle United
Another interesting game takes place at St James Park where Newcastle minus
Andy Carroll will entertain Arsenal. It will be interesting to see how the Newcastle
fans react to the sudden loss of Andy Carroll as Carroll has stated that he was forced
out of St James Park. If that is true then the Newcastle fans may react badly to this
and they have still not warmed to new owner Mike Ashley.

I am not convinced about Newcastle and Arsenal have been in a rich vein of form
recently that has seen them record some impressive wins. Their fight back against
Everton and the fight that they showed in that game was impressive. I still think that
United will take the title but Arsenal will be there at the end and I also expect them to
take three points here as well although no trip to St James Park is easy but once again
I feel the crowd reaction to losing Carroll may be interesting.

BETTING TIP: West Ham to beat Birmingham
There are going to be some huge relegation fights between now and the end of the
season but none bigger than West Ham vs Birmingham this weekend which sees a
repeat of their Carling Cup semi-final. I really think that the Carling Cup defeat will prove
to be a great spur for the Hammers. I think that home advantage may play its part here
and they need to start winning games and start doing it now. Letting a lead slip in
stoppage time against Everton cost them two points and they have a brutal fixture list in
March coming up.

If they fare badly in their games in February then I think West Ham will go down but that
should be enough to motivate them this weekend and nothing short of a win will be
enough and I expect them to do it.

January 29nd F.A cup betting tips.

The FA Cup can be notorious for predicting results because some Premier L
eague teams are looking at the Premier League now as being so important that
they simply cannot risk injuries to key players and fixture congestion.
Blackpool have refused £4 million for Charlie Adam this week and rightly so.
With Premier League status worth an estimated £65 million per season then it
is no wonder why clubs value this so much. So rather than go for obvious
bets this
week I am going to focus on potential upsets where some sides may be
focusing elsewhere.

BETTING TIP:       Coventry  to win at  Birmingham
So I think that Birmingham City vs Coventry City has the potential for an upset.
Birmingham play West Ham in midweek in what will be a high intensity Carling Cup
semi-final second leg tie and that is bound to sap their legs. If they win then they are
going to be euphoric at reaching a Wembley final and if they lose then lifting the side
could prove difficult. I think that this fixture has all of the hallmarks for a potential upset
and the relatively high betting odds should not be a problem.

BETTING TIP:      Forest  to win at West Ham
Another game that has the capacity for an upset is West Ham vs Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers are in a similar boat to Birmingham because it is they who
play Birmingham in midweek in the Carling Cup. So for similar reasons then I think
they have the potential to get beaten or at least held even at home. Notting Forest
under Billy Davies are a formidable side these days. West Ham are desperate
for Premier League survival at any cost and I think that they could be going steady in
this game.

Getting relegated will not help their plans for them moving to the Olympic Stadium
and getting bad attendances in the Championship could lead to them getting
only 25,000 in a 60,000 seat stadium. So this game has the capacity for an upset in
my mind for sure.

BETTING TIP:      Fulham  to beat  Tottenham
Fulham seem to be slightly turning the corner with regards recent results in the
Premier League. I am sure that Tottenham will be going for this but Fulham at home
can be difficult to beat. Mark Hughes has a relegation fight on his hands while his
rival is going for a second successive top four finish. With Chelsea picking up
points again and Manchester City challenging then the task of doing that is going
to be very difficult. So Tottenham may be going for this but then again you would not
be surprised to see Harry Redknapp rest a few players.

If he did that then this game could swing Fulham’s way and I can well see an upset
in this one. Fulham have not had a really good Cup run in this competition for years
and their UEFA Cup final appearance last season will have wetted their appetite.
I expect a draw here with Tottenham winning the replay but I can well see
Fulham winning this also.

January 22nd Premier League betting tips.

BETTING TIP: Wolves to draw with Liverpool

This weekend sees Wolves entertain Liverpool only about two weeks after their
famous win at Anfield. Liverpool have yet to taste victory under new boss Kenny
Dalglish having lost at United in the cup and then at Blackpool in the league and
drawing with Everton. Wolves are fighting for every point and will be doing so
between now and the end of the season. But they are an extremely game side and
I do not expect them to roll over against a struggling Liverpool team. This is one of
those games that could go either way and when this happens then you can
sometimes get good value with the draw bet.

BETTING TIP: Manchester United to beat Birmingham

Manchester United are looking good for the title now and they even ground out a
0-0 draw at Tottenham over the weekend which saw them keep up their unbeaten run.
I agree with Harry Redknapp in that I simply cannot see them going unbeaten for the
rest of the season. However United get stronger in the second half of the season
and I cannot see Birmingham City being the team that halts United’s run.
Alex Ferguson must be loving this season because one thing is sure and he
would never have expected them to be in this position with only 3 ½ months of
the season to go.

He would have made all the right noises but it was difficult to see beyond Chelsea
at the start of the season. But the Blues have self destructed and now it is difficult to
see anyone stopping United including Birmingham.

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to beat Wigan

Arsenal will be pushing hard for a trophy this season and they are already in the
semi-finals of the Carling Cup and the last 32 of the FA Cup. However they
have an easier run in with regards to the league than United and so you cannot
discount them. I think Arsenal will miss out on the league but they will push hard
and I expect them to beat a struggling Wigan side. However you would never put
anything past Arsenal and they have lost games at home this season that you
would never have expected. But this is where I expect Arsene Wenger to push
them forward and I am going for a home win here which is not much of a surprise.

BETTING TIP: Newcastle to draw with Tottenham

The game of the weekend for me is at St James Park where Newcastle
entertain Tottenham and it is difficult to bet against Spurs these days.
But Newcastle have been made of sterner stuff since Alan Pardew took over.
I think that this will be a very difficult game for Tottenham and although they are as
attractive to watch as anyone on the Premier League, they do have a soft
underbelly where they concede goals. I am tipping Newcastle to hold Tottenham
and share the points.

January 15th Premier League betting tips.

BETTING TIP: Liverpool to draw with Everton

There are some really fascinating games this weekend and none more so than
at Anfield where Liverpool under new boss Kenny Dalglish take on new neighbours
Everton at Anfield. The previous regime under Roy Hodgson had seen a period
of struggle but I for one felt that Hodgson didn’t really do that badly. Everton are
another team who have probably under performed in what is a very competitive
league this season. But all of the attention will be on Liverpool. After going out of the
cup at Old Trafford last week then their only chance of silverware this term is the
UEFA Cup. I am going for the draw in this game as I think that it will suit both players
but be careful to get the best possible betting odds on that.

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to win at West Ham United
West Ham versus Arsenal is a fascinating London derby and with West Ham bottom
of the league then this will be another key game for boss Avram Grant. The two
recent cup wins against Barnsley and Birmingham may have provided some
welcome relief but West Ham cannot afford to continue in their current vein.
They are simply playing badly though and their success over Birmingham in the
Carling Cup was as much down to errors by the City keeper rather than a great
West Ham performance.

I really do not think that Grant has the credentials for a top Premier League job and
that West Ham will continue to struggle with him at the helm. I therefore expect
Arsenal despite some dodgy away performances lately to take all three points at
Upton Park.

BETTING TIP: Manchester City to beat Wolves
I don’t think that there are any bankers in the Premier League anymore but I do
expect Manchester City to beat Wolves at Eastlands. For me Wolves are one of
the weakest teams on the league and they are going to be fighting the drop every step
of the way. Manchester City have a great chance to close the gap on United at the top
as United travel to Spurs for what will be a very tough game for them and one that
they could easily lose. So I simply do not expect City to slip up and think that they will
win by a couple of goals.

BETTING TIP: Birmingham City to draw with Aston Villa
My final tip takes us to St Andrews where two clubs under pressure meet in what is
sure to be a volatile midlands derby. Birmingham City vs Aston Villa is always a
huge game but with both clubs struggling this season then it has extra spice.
Birmingham will be smarting from their Carling Cup defeat and Villa manager
Gerard Houllier is another boss who is under real pressure.

Villa should not be where they are but once again I am tipping the draw here as
draws often come up trumps in big derbies like this.

January 8th F.A cup betting tips.

Manchester United to beat Liverpool
This week sees the Premier League take a break and make way for the FA Cup.
It is always interesting to see how the big boys handle this competition and what
teams they will field. The big tie of the round though is no doubt Manchester
United against Liverpool. This is always a feisty encounter but Liverpool need
some confidence from somewhere and where better than a result at Old Trafford.
Anything can happen of course in a cup tie but Manchester United are playing so
much better than Liverpool at the moment that it’s hard to see them slipping up at
home. Torres and Gerrard are still not back to their best and the win over Bolton was
far from impressive. It is difficult to perform under so much pressure and this is why
I am tipping United to get the expected win.

BETTING TIP:

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to beat Leeds United

It wasn’t that long ago that Arsenal vs Leeds Utd was one of the top games in
the country. How things have fallen though for Leeds but they are on the way back
and are in promotion contention in the Championship this term. I expect Arsenal to
field a few new faces in the Cup but I still expect them to have too much for the boys
in white. It would be nice to see Arsenal throw off the tag of not having won a trophy
since 2005 so this may inspire them to go for the win big time.

I still think that the two domestic cups are Arsenal’s best chance of silverware
this season and I think that they have a great chance of lifting one of them.
So I expect them to beat Leeds this weekend.

BETTING TIP: Blackburn to draw with QPR
Blackburn Rovers against QPR is an interesting little tie with me being undecided
as to who will be treating this game the most serious.

The new takeover at Ewood Park by the Venky’s Group spells a possible good future
for the club even though they did sack Big Sam. They did act in the clubs best
interests even though that may not have been apparent to everyone else.
But QPR look like a Premier League side in waiting this season and they will
give Blackburn a real run for their money. My tip though is for QPR to get a slight upset
by taking the tie back to Loftus Road.

BETTING TIP: Leicester City to lose against Manchester City.
Manchester City travel to Leicester in a game that I am convinced they will try to win.
City are in a similar boat to Arsenal in that they have gone too long without a trophy
and they would love to tear that famous banner down at Old Trafford which depicts
that they haven’t won a trophy since 1976.

That will surely come to an end though soon as City are now strong enough
to challenge for honours on all four fronts or at least they will be next season for sure.
I am tipping them to edge Leicester and go through to the next round.

January 1st Premier League betting tips.       Archive

It is difficult to see where Chelsea go from here after their dismal 3-1 defeat at
Arsenal. Manchester United also let two points slip with their 1-1 draw at Birmingham
but they travel to West Brom looking to bounce back from that result. The Baggies
this season have been stronger in this league than in previous seasons and
my
bettingtip for this game could go either way. United are drawing a lot of games
this season even though they remain unbeaten. I think this is a sure sign that they
are not the team of previous seasons.

BETTING TIP: United to win at West Brom
I don’t care if they are top of the league; this is a unique season in that there is no
stand out team in the league at the moment. I am tipping United though to break their
run of away draws by grinding out a win at The Hawthorns.

BETTING TIP: City to beat Blackpool

Blackpool have been absolutely amazing this season and their 2-0 win at
Sunderland puts them on 25pts after 17 games. It is amazing but you have to start
taking on board that Blackpool will now stay in this league. However they travel
to Manchester City this weekend who are fresh from their 3-1 and 4-0 wins
over Newcastle and Aston Villa. They are creating chances and I feel that Blackpool
are due a loss and they could get blown away at Eastlands.

Balotelli will be better for his hat-trick and I think that City will put at least a couple
of goals past Blackpool. Will the light blues win the title? I don’t think so although
with United not performing to previous season’s standards and Chelsea in a
mega slump then anything could happen.

BETTING TIP: Arsenal to win at Birmingham City

At the time of writing then Arsenal are only 3pts behind United and their huge 3-1
win against Chelsea will have done wonders for their confidence against the big
teams. But here is where Arsenal need to press on and this trip to Birmingham will
be a huge game for them. The Blues are fresh from their late equaliser against
United but they have really struggled this season. But Arsenal have also dropped a
lot of points this term in games where you would expect them to win and win well.

So you never can be sure which Arsenal are going to turn up but I do think that
the Chelsea result will have done wonders for them and I am going for an Arsenal
win here.

BETTING TIP: West Ham to beat Wolves

There have been some huge battles recently at the bottom of the table and
West Ham versus Wolves will be another big six point game. I do feel that Wolves
are finding life the toughest of all of the sides at the bottom at the moment and
West Ham will be buoyed by their recent win and their draw with Everton.
I am not convinced that West Ham will stay up and even though I expect a patriotic
crowd at Upton Park to spur them on to victory, I still expect them to struggle for the
rest of the season.
